Join the Youth Crew at Camp Pringle!

Do you want to grow in leadership, make lifelong friendships, and be part of something truly meaningful? Camp Pringle’s Youth Crew program is your chance to dive into camp life, build confidence, and serve in a supportive and fun environment.

What is YOUTH CREW?

Joining Camp Pringle’s YouthCrew program means practicing leadership skills, spending joyful and light-hearted time with children, connecting with other young leaders, learning from Camp Pringle’s Staff Team, deepening your faith and making a bit of money! People who are in Grades 9 through 11 (ages 15-17 as of December 31, 2025) right now are invited to sign up to be part of YouthCrew for the coming summer.

Being on YouthCrew is Being Part of Camp Pringle’s Leadership Team

  • CONNECT! Connect with other youth, adults and children in the United Church of Canada, perhaps in your home faith community or perhaps in places you have never been before!

  • BUILD! CREATE! Build and create with other staff people, programs for children that are inspiring and fun and make sure that each child feels like they are loved and honoured just as they are!

  • HAVE FUN! Have fun because well, it is a really great group of energetic, fun-loving, supportive people! You will learn a lot, you will be exhausted at the end of the day and you will bounce out of bed ready for a new day of amazing things!  (o.k., maybe not bounce, but we are pretty sure you will be happy to be there!)

What can I expect if I am on YouthCrew?

As a member of the YouthCrew team, you will

  • spend time with campers who are 6 to 11 years old to develop your leadership skills and learn about working with children,

  • engage directly with the children at camp,

  • be attentive to keeping the campers safe and supported with care and respect for each individual,

  • gather and prepare resources and materials for each day’s program experience,

  • support hands-on activities (leading a craft or a game, sharing a song or a story, etc),

  • participate in the leadership of opening and closing gatherings,

  • participate in set up, staff debrief and feedback, and room and supply clean up each day

  • be fully present and engaged for the entirety of camp,

  • be a supportive, respectful and committed part of the team, and

  • attend the IN PERSON, OVERNIGHT YOUTHCREW TRAINING at Camp Pringle on Vancouver Island from Friday, June 20, after dinner until Sunday, June 22 after lunch.

You can expect that Camp Pringle will

  • provide supervision, training and mentorship at the YouthCrew training on the weekend of June 20-22,

  • provide the materials and staff support so each YouthCrew member can be successful and excited about their leadership,

  • provide accommodations and meals for each YouthCrew member during camp weeks (including ensuring accommodation of any dietary need or food restriction)

  • provide a YouthCrew t-shirt and sweatshirt for each YouthCrew member, and

  • give $300 per week of YouthCrew leadership in gratitude for each person’s leadership and support.

This sounds AMAZING!!!

How do I apply?

Please go to THIS LINK to apply.  In the YouthCrew Sign-Up Application, we will ask you describe leadership experiences that you may have, and share about your passion for volunteering with children. Leadership experience is not required. YouthCrew is often the first focused setting where Youth are trained and supported in practicing leadership skills!

You will also be asked for your availability during the summer (during the weeks of camp).  We expect to be able to offer each member of YouthCrew at least two weeks of camp leadership.  You can also choose if you would be interested in being on the crew of a day camp week or an overnight camp – or both if you feel adventurous!!

Please note – you must be able to attend the IN PERSON OVERNIGHT YOUTHCREW TRAINING (June 20-22 at Camp Pringle).
